Psychological Testing & Evaluations
At Crossen Psychological Services we specialize in juvenile Neuropsychological, Forensic, and Psychoeducational evaluations. We provide you with timely expert evaluation reports that aid you and your treatment providers in diagnostic clarification and treatment planning or help educate the court on mental health matters.
Forensic Evaluations
As an expert witness for attorneys across a variety of legal settings. We conduct forensic mental health evaluations in criminal, civil, and administrative legal matters. We perform comprehensive record reviews, obtain collateral information and interviews, and utilize objective psychological instruments to answer psycho-legal questions. We then integrate the findings into a legally defensible report.
Neuropsychological Evaluation
A neuropsychological evaluation or "neuropsych" is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive reasoning abilities, academic achievement, language, learning/memory, and executive function. We design a personalized battery based on prior diagnoses and current concerns to ensure diagnostic precision, limit testing fatigue, and avoid false positives. In-depth reports are finalized with personalized treatment recommendations and referrals.
Psychoeducational Evaluation
A psycho-educational assessment or "psycho-ed" is a thorough assessment of cognitive reasoning abilities and academic achievement. This basic evaluation can be a great starting point for mild academic concerns or to update an existing IEP. The results are sometimes sufficient to diagnose a learning disorder. However, we can build on this battery to create a full neuropsychological evaluation if warranted. Results are always accompanied by standard recommendations.
Autism Diagnostic Observation
We provide comprehensive evaluations of social communication skills using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-II), an engaging, activity-based assessment. We also conduct in-depth caregiver interviews of the child's developmental history and current adaptive skill level. These measures, along with a set of standardized parent and teacher questionnaires, allow us to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorders with reliability and confidence.
Mental Health
We conduct a compassionate and thorough assessment of current and past emotional symptoms and their impact on an individual's home, school, and social life. Based on the Standard Clinical Interview for the DSM-5 (SCID-5) and the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (KSADS), these assessments diagnose mood, anxiety, and thought, and can be paired with a neuropsychological evaluation for a comprehensive picture of overall mental health.
